Background

Chief Workman started as Warrenton Police Chief on October 1, 2008. Prior to coming to the WPD, Chief Workman served as Police Chief at the Vernonia Police Department from May 2004 until September 2008. Before serving in Vernonia, Chief Workman was a Sergeant with the City of Hastings, Nebraska Police for 13 years. Chief Workman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska and a Master's Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix where he is currently teaching in the Criminal Justice Department. Chief Workman has had extensive training in several areas of law enforcement and implemented numerous projects for the Warrenton Police Department, Vernonia Police Department, and the Hastings Police Department. Chief Workman has a son (Brenton) who is an Army veteran who was stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia but is now back home attending Clatsop Community College and a daughter (Bethany) who is a Corporal with the Seaside Police Department. Chief Workman is happy to call Warrenton his home!

The City of Warrenton is rich in tradition with a very diverse economy, a strong sense of heritage, a dedication to family values, and a willingness to welcome visitors to share in these attributes. The Warrenton Police Department is committed to preserving all of these precious traits for generations to come. As the Chief of Police, I am dedicated to keeping Warrenton safe and secure for its citizens and visitors alike. To successfully accomplish this task the WPD will partner with the citizens of Warrenton to reduce crime, increase safety, improve the livability of the community, and continue to make Warrenton attractive to visitors. Warrenton is a great place to raise a family and a very safe town for our children. Together we can sustain our community values for future generations to look toward Warrenton as their home.
