The Warrenton Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is responsible for economic development, land use planning, zoning administration, historic preservation, code enforcement, and assisting the City Manager’s Office with management of the Downtown Urban Renewal District. The department serves current residents and individuals moving to Warrenton with building and planning services in the belief that a growing community can remain liveable, can meeting the needs of its citizens, and become a diverse community with job and housing needs met.

The Department provides staff support to the Planning Commission on land use issues, including development permits, conditional uses, comprehensive and zoning map amendments, variances, partitions, and subdivisions. The Department administers the City Comprehensive Plan, the Development Code, and the Zoning Map. We work side-by-side with the Warrenton Building Department in promoting wise development of commercial, industrial, and residential uses.

We are always looking for ways to improve the planning and development process and invite you to participate in the community through its boards and commissions
